The interim Committee tasked with steering the affairs of the Brikama Area Council, has been dissolved with immediate effected.
Prominent politician Lamin Waa Juwara and other Committee Members have had their contract terminated in view of the just concluded local Government elections. Sukaru Badjie has been named as the Chairman of the Brikama Area Council. Mr. Badjie was recently elected by voters in Brikama.
Mr. Badjie who stood under an independent ticket swept the polls in Brikama. His appointment surprises many residents in Brikama. Many thought that Lamin Waa Juwara was going to be hired as Chairman, but that theory has changed altogether with Badjie being named as the new Chairman of the Brikama Area Council.
Mr. Juwara who recently cross-carpeted to the Ruling APRC, is currently rendered jobless. His monthly salary has been stopped. Reports have it that Juwara was likely to be hired to serve in other areas by the President.
Juwara and co have just completed their three month contract given to them by the Government to oversee the operations of the Brikama Area Council.
Under the circumstances the Chairman should be elected by the councilors, but according to Council Member Lamin Sanyang, there was no such election organized. He tells our Correspondent that Sukaru Badjie was just hand-picked to head the Council.
Lamin Jarju an Independent Candidate for Dasilameh Ward said the matter at hand was beyond their control. " What can we do if the President decides to appoint the Chairman? The President thinks that the APRC has the majority in terms of Councilors, but he should bear in mind that not everyone here likes Sukaru Badjie. We decided to keep quiet just to secure our positions, but this is undone. It's undemocratic." said Jarju.
When contacted for comments Lamin Waa Juwara remarked" We have to follow what the President said even though the Majority do not like it. He is mandated to appoint and dismiss public officials. Do you know why he appoints him?" Juwara said people should respect the President's decision since he is entrusted with the affairs of the state.

Many thought that Lamin Waa Juwara was going to be hired as Chairman, but that theory has changed altogether with Badjie being named as the new Chairman of the Brikama Area Council." AND THEN THIS: "Lamin Jarju an Independent Candidate for Dasilameh Ward said the matter at hand was beyond their control. " What can we do if the President decides to appoint the Chairman? The President thinks that the APRC has the majority in terms of Councilors, but he should bear in mind that not everyone here likes Sukaru Badjie. We decided to keep quiet just to secure our positions, but this is undone. It's undemocratic." said Jarju." WHICH IS WHICH NDERRY? IS "SUKARU" (BY THE WAY IT IS SUNGKARU, NOT "SUKARU") AN INDEPENDENT CANDIDATE OR AN APRC CANDIDATE??? FOR YOUR INFORMATION, SUNKARU IS AN APRC CANDIDATE FROM THE SOMITA WARD NOT FROM BRIKAMA.
