Bamenda was calm until news of the effectiveness of the strike action in some major towns.

Life was normal in Bamenda Monday morning until around 10 am when news of the effectiveness of strike in some major towns like Yaounde, Douala, Buea lured inhabitants to join. Bamenda saw people mounting barricades, and some stopping the movements of private vehicles. The strike actually started after the governor left the capital city to Boyo division in continuation of his contact tour.

Governor Abakar Ahamat while addressing the population in Boyo Division called on all to be calm and preach peace. He said the government is working with the various stakeholders to seek lasting solutions.

Meanwhile the situation in Bamenda is still tensed as one could find forces of law and Order parading the streets to ensure that peace reign. At press time the streets of Bamenda were dry. No taxi, nor motorbike were found plying the roads. Group of people could be spotted at street comers conversing while some around Nchobou in the Ntarikon neighbourhood were carrying sticks and mounting road blocks while the forces of law and order in this area were busy dismantling the road blocks as well as to ensure that the strike doesn't go violent.
