Eritrea: Micro-Dam Under Construction in Dubarwa Sub-Zone

Dubarwa — A micro-dam with a capacity of holding about 2 million cubic meters of water is under construction in Qaqbda-Adebzage, Dubarwa sub-zone, at an expenditure of 40 million Nakfa. The task is being undertaken by Bidho Construction Company.

The micro-dam is expected to ease potable water supply problems in the area, in addition to promoting irrigation farming in nearby extensive farm land.

The Administrator of the Southern region, Mr. Mustafa Nurhussein, explained that the construction of the micro-dam is part of the on-going efforts to achieve food security and enrich underground water resources. He also indicated that it would play a significant role in putting farming plots under cultivation through drip irrigation.

It is to recalled that a 3 million-cubic meter micro-dam was constructed in Takita administrative area last year by Bidho Construction Company and currently providing the desired service.
