Eritrean youths residing in the UK held a public meeting under the theme "The Youth and Nation: Concerted Endeavors for A Bright Future."

In the meeting in which hundredth of Eritrean youths took part study papers on different topics were presented. In a paper he presented focusing on Eritrean sovereignty and the prevailing situation, Hurui Girmai reminded every Eritrean youth to play increased role in safeguarding national sovereignty through keeping intact the heavy sacrifices paid in achieving national independence.

Similarly, Natsinet Tesfai outlined in a paper she presented regarding the significance of self-reliance and equitable economic growth. She also noted the major achievements the Eritrean government had registered in infrastructure, human resource development, food security and establishing free trade zone, among others. In this regard, Natsinet called on Eritrean youths in the Diaspora to play active role.

Likewise, Sirak Bahlbi, Merhawi Woldekristos and Rishan Beyene, respectively highlighted the role of Eritrean national values in reconstruction and development programs, the role of mass media in reinforcing such noble values, as well as the required awareness in combating psychological warfare.

Following discussion on the papers presented, the participants adopted a number of resolutions and recommendations, including the need to set up a cultural center and the holding of more meetings of this type.

The Eritrean Ambassador to the UK and Ireland, Mr. Tesfamichael Gerahtu, gave briefings on the past, present and future role of Eritrean youths. Noting that all national programs are being implemented through the active participation of the youth, he called on Eritrean youths abroad to enhance their contribution.
