Addis Ababa — A high ranking delegation of the German Church Development Service (Evangellscher Entwicklungsdlenst/EED) including members of the German Federal Parliament is on a week-long visit in Ethiopia.
According to the German embassy in Addis Ababa, the purpose of the visit was to get a first time impression on development projects realized in cooperation between the churches in Ethiopia and Germany.
Integrated rural development projects will particularly the focus during their visit.
The German members of Parliament on Monday met and held discussions with Foreign Minister Seyoum Mesfin and will be meeting also First Lady Azeb Mesfin, Chairperson of the Ethic-German Parliamentary Group.
During its stay here the German delegation also intends to conduct an exchange of view sessions on subjects of common interest with the Ethiopian Government and Parliament as well as with the local partners of the German Church Development Service including the Ethiopian Orthodox Church.
Ethiopia is the focus country of development cooperation for the German Church Development Service, said the statement.
The delegation is headed by Dr. Claudia WARNING, Member of the Executive Board of the German Church Development Service, Head of International Programs.
She is joined by three eminent members of the German Federal Parliament.
