Addis Ababa — Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) Ethiopia Office on Tuesday donated eight vehicles worth 300,000 US dollars to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to help alleviate the ministry's transportation problems.
The donation conducted at the Ministry's premises includes two E county buses that carry each 30 passengers, two Hyundai minibuses that carry 12 passengers each and four latest and luxurious Hyundai Santa Fe automobiles.
"The vehicles are deemed to be important as Addis Ababa being the diplomatic capital of Africa, where frequent regional and international conferences are hosted and the needs for the vehicles to transport delegates have paramount importance and ease the severe shortage of vehicles faced by the Ministry in its day to day activities," a statement made available to the media said.
Speaking after the hand over ceremony, Ambassador Mahadi Ahemed Gadid, Director General of Asia, Australia and Middle East Department with the ministry thanked the government and people of Korea on behalf of the ministry He said the donation would boost the logistic resource of the Ministry.
The Director General, the donation showed the commitment of the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) to enhance the cordial bilateral relation between the two countries.

KOICA made the donation through the Korean embassy in Addis Ababa.
In his remarks on the occasion, Korean ambassador to Ethiopia Byung Kuck Jhung said the donation will contribute to upgrading the protocol regime of the Ethiopian government by facilitating the transportation of foreign or domestic VIPs here in Addis Ababa, "a diplomatic hub in Africa." The Ambassador added these vehicles are expected to be very useful on the occasion of such big international events as AU summit and other high level meetings.
