Africa: Abia to Host African Wrestling Title Defence

Lagos — Abia State Government has set up a Local Organising Committee (LOC) ahead of the World Wrestling Professional (WWP) African Heavyweight title defence, scheduled to hold in the state on April 29.

WWP African Heavyweight title holder, Nigeria's Ultimate Commander will defend his title against Tornado and Joes Legend in an all night wrestling title bout in the state. WWP organisation has also approved the release of some of its best wrestlers for the event, just as it appoints South Africa-based company, Loyiso as Event Management.

Some of the wrestlers lined up for the Nigerian tour include Tornado, Dameon, PJ Black, Kilimanjaro, Fury, Big Joe, and Anazi. Others are Akilah, Scorn and The Weasel.

Speaking on the readiness of the state to host the championship, LOC chairman, Paul Mba assured that all hands are on deck to promote the game of wrestling in Abia State.

"We are ready to host the African title defence with the proposal drawn and forwarded to the governor for his final endorsement, I think youths in the state will benefit form this event," he said.
