The board of directors meeting of the University of Yaounde II Soa, yesterday earmarked projects for the money.

The sum of CFA 7,355,255,000 has been allocated as University of Yaounde II, Soa budget for the 2008 financial year. The budget was adopted yesterday during the board of Directors meeting of the institution in Soa. Top on the agenda was the adoption of the programme of action for 2008 and the new budget for 2008. The meeting was co presided at by the President of the Board of Directors, Foumane Akam and the Rector of the University of Yaounde II, Jean Tabi Manga. As compared to last year, this year's budget increased by CFA 1,811,775,000. The 2008 budget will serve three major domains: the academic, administrative, and investment domains. In the academic domain, the budget will enable the university to carry out the plans for the professionalisation of education in the university in order to prepare the students for the job market.

In a bid to meet the problems of youth unemployment new structures for the professionalisation of students will go operational in the university. These include the creation of the judicial studies (training of layers, notaries, baliffs, etc), centre for consultancy and reinforcement of institutional capacities, creation of centres for research in political science, research in international law, among others.

According to the Reactor, Jean Tabi Manga, the budget will help in consolidating professionalisation of education in the university. The putting place of these structures, thanks to the 2008 budget, will enable the University of Yaounde II to in implement the new Bachelor Masters Doctorate programme (BMD) of the university. In the administrative and social domain, the university intends to intensify the fight against corruption, administrative and academic fraud as well as formalise the procedure for the census of personnel. The University of Yaounde II also intends to encourage cooperation among students. This was already seen in 2007 with the creation of the Students' Boutique in the campus of the university. Apart from the university games the university will carry out several projects to encourage friendly ties among university students. Concerning the suspension of examination, the rector said a new date for the examination will be communicated.
