Soroti — POLICE in Soroti are hunting for five juveniles who gang raped a mentally retarded girl, aged 15.

The Acting Officer in Charge of Criminal Investigations Department in Soroti, Mr Gregory Okwii, on Tuesday told journalists at his office that two suspects have been arrested.

He said the incident took place on February 24 at about 10pm on one of the streets in Soroti Municipality.

"The girl was returning from Akisim Housing Estates where she had gone to watch a football match when she fell in the hands of rapists," Mr Okwii said.

He said the boys dragged the victim to Soroti Independence Gardens where they took turns in raping her before a police officer, Ms Hadijja Atim rescued her.

Mr Okwii said the suspects would be charged with aggravated defilement and rape.
