Lugogo — Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) earned a lot of praise from Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) and other dignitaries as they wrapped up their 20-day tour to Uganda.

Senior Presidential Advisor John Nagenda thanked MCC for bringing a professional squad, that gave several Ugandan and Kenya U-19 players exposure to different forms of the game.

They also trained schools, disabled cricketers, the national women's team and pledged to finance the construction of more facilities and offer technical support to Uganda.

"I thank MCC for giving us a great tour. They beat our A side and U-19s but our national team bounced back to hand them defeat in the ODI and a winning-draw in the 3-day game," said Nagenda amidst applause during the reception held on Wednesday night.

MCC head of delegation and tour manager Steve Salisbury maintained that the future was not bleak for Uganda because he had noted that the country had a consistent flow of talented cricketers whose only hindrance was lack of proper facilities and kit.

"Uganda has shown a lot of potential and I am particularly impressed by some youngsters. I will recommend to MCC that some of the youngsters come over to England and get to play and improve their games in UK conditions," he said.

MCC, UCA and Kenya Cricket who were represented by the Chief Executive Officer Tom Tikolo also exchanged momentos as a sign of appreciation.
