Harare — MBIRA princess Chiwoniso Maraire appears to have found a "pain-killer" to the marital wounds she sustained in that stormy affair with fellow musician, Andy Brown.
Chiwoniso has found new love in "protest poet" Sam Monro! Better known as Cde Fatso or Chabvondoka -- Chiwoniso's new love had been bragging that he was "dating" Brown's ex-wife although many people thought it was just beer talk.
This week Cde Fatso, who preferred giving short answers, confirmed that he was madly in love with Chiwoniso.
"Ehe tinogara tese. Mukadzi wangu (Yes we stay together, she is my wife," said the dreadlocked poet.
Asked when the nation should expect wedding bells, Cde Fatso said: "It's confidential. I can't comment on that."
The 27-year-old poet says he enjoys the affair despite the age gap with Chiwoniso, who is now in her early 30s.
On reports that they don't see eye-to-eye with Brown, the poet responded: "I don't have a comment. I am enjoying every moment. But I don't interfere in her works. She does her things on her own so do I. "As we speak, I will be going to South Africa to promote my album House of Hunger and I will be coming back on Thursday night. I will go alone," he said.
Chiwoniso and Brown had a working relationship, which developed into a marriage but they later split. In a separate interview, Chiwoniso was not willing to discuss the issue. "I thought we have reached an agreement that you will not phone me. What do you want this time around?
"You are a nasty journalist in the country bent on writing negative stories about me. What do you want from me? ".
"Kana zviri zvaFatso wadii kumubvunza Fatso wacho. Zvaanenge akuudza ndizvozvo. (If it's about Fatso why don't you ask him, take whatever he tells you.) I don't want to talk with you.
"You know how to get hold of him and do so if you want. Period," fumed the songbird before switching off her mobile phone.
