Kampala — It is a difficult task to impress folks in Mityana. One wonders why they left the warmth of their homes in their hundreds to brave the chilling coldness of Kolping Belt to party with the Bell Lager music stars on Friday night if all they wanted was the Late Prince Paul Kafeero to perform at the do. Each time the emcee asked them which artiste they preferred to be on the stage, they would answer in unison; "Paul Kafeero!"
But when General Mega Dee jumped on the stage, the mood immediately changed. The audience stood to attention and saluted to welcome the 'General' as he marched to the stage, belting out the Karibu tune.
Phina 'Masanyalaze' took advantage of the little excitement and drove her point home by sending more chilling shock waves down the spines of the audience with her famous dancing strokes. Soon everyone was dancing along and screaming out her name. When she left the stage, fans realised that they had taken everything for granted. They pleaded with Phina for more.
New artiste of the year Henry Tigan (pictured) and Sweet Kid also worked hard to please the fans. Alas! Who said Michael Jackson wasn't born in Uganda. The international star lives right here in our midst going by the names of Hebert Kajjubi, a dancer with Viva Stars.
This 21-year-old lad just knows his moves. He wowed everyone with his Michaeal Jackson dancing strokes complete with the Jackson outfit and moon walking antics. Kajjubi drew more applause than all other artistes who performed at the Mityana event.
Meanwhile Bell Lager has unveiled plans to reward yet another Ugandan artiste with a multi-million shilling recording deal at the world known Abbey Road Studios in London. "In addition to sponsoring the New Artiste of the Year Henry Tigan's recording trip to London, Bell Lager would like to give opportunity to yet another artiste," Brand Manager Moses Kebba said.
This artiste will be voted by the brand's consumers and they will be casting their ballots using Bell bottle tops, which they will put in a box with their favourite artiste's picture in various bars. "We shall have weekly tallying of the votes to announce weekly winners," he said.
