A Member of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Abdulkareem Saliu, has petitioned the Inspector General of Police, Mike Okiro and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole, over the police's role in the crisis in Ogaminana, Adavi local government of Kogi state.

He alleged that the police in the state are "systematically killing people and setting the town ablaze in the guise of keeping peace in the troubled town."

Saliu, representing Adavi/Okehi federal constituency, told Daily Trust that the police was bias in the handling of the issue at stake, revealing that he was going to solicit his colleagues' assistance to call the police to order.

He also said that the community has petitioned the Inspector General of Police, Mike Okiro, on the activities of his men in Kogi State even as he said that the crisis was not political.

In his petition, he said that about 50 people have been killed and several houses burnt by the police: "If the police who are supposed to protect lives and property are now reacting in this manner, killing people and burning houses and destroying properties, I wonder what is wrong with this constitutional mandate".
