Tunis — Legendary Brazilian composer and singer, Gilberto Gil will open the 2008 edition of "Jazz in Carthage " on April 10, 2008.
The artist will feature a performance of the successful show 'Gil Luminoso', which he presented to American audience during his latest US tour.
The artist will be accompanied on stage by his son Ben Gil, as well as the Portuguese star singer Maria Joao.
Even if the complete program has not yet been disclosed, it is expected that Amar Sundy (Blues touareg), William Parker jazz band , Dhafer Youssef (Oriental jazz and mystical) and Gino Paoli (Italian jazz), will perform on the Carthage scene.
"Jazz in Carthage" will celebrate in 2008 its 4 th edition; over the years, it has managed to raise to the level of Tunisia's other famous jazz festival, the "Tabarka Jazz festival ", thanks to the quality and diversity of performing artists. These include Barbara Hendricks, Anouar Brahem, Dee Dee Bridgewater, as well as the late Ike Turner.
