Nigeria: Fashola Unfolds Devt Plan for Health

Lagos — Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos state yesterday said the state government has developed a comprehensive four-year infrastructural development plan for its health sector.

The evolvement of the plan, he said, was with a view to ensuring that landmarks continue to be laid to positively impact on the health of the ever-increasing Lagos populace. Fashola made this disclosure at the commissioning of the BT Ward and Dental Centre at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja.

He further explained that in line with the policy thrust of the State Government as outlined in the 10- point agenda, the need to increase access of the populace to quality, efficient and adequate basic social services and infrastructure remains a focus of this administration.

"It is no gainsaying that as a result of extensive rehabilitation, this fully equipped dental centre, now competes favorably with any such centre globally. I can personally testify to the efficiency of the staffand their equipment because I was here to scale and polish my teeth in January 2008", Fashola said.

Fashola said his predecessor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, mid-wived a great revolution invarious aspects of the health sector , recalling that in2005, the Tinubu administration commenced a massive developmental programme at LASUTH .

Speaking earlier , former Governor of the State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu commended his successor, for continuing the good work and the vision in seeing to the realization of the project. He called for support for the governor in order to see through his promise of ensuring a better rewarding future for the people of the State.

Also speaking in the same vein, the special guest of honour, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye while commending the state government for the priority it places on healthcare delivery system , urged the government to take the issue of maintaining the edifice as paramount.
