They top their different pools and have the greatest chances of acceding to the first division next year.
Within the backdrop of the MTN Elite One championship which has been attracting much of the headlines in local tabloids, the new look MTN Elite two championship has been going on as well and is actually in the fifth day of play. The twenty four clubs taking part in the competition are divided into three zones. In zone one comprising Sahel FC, FC Pilote, Danay FC, Olympique, Diables Rouges, Dynamique Ngaoundere, Jeunesse and Scorpion, Sahel FC is running neck to neck with FC Pilote of Garoua with 10 points each after five matches. Sahel FC however has an edge because of goal advantage. Danay FC, Jeunesse and Olympique are threatened with relegation to the provincial division two, if the championship were to end today.
In zone two including CPS of Bertoua, Achille FC, Renaissance, Federal, Noblesse, Infinitif and As Kadey, CPS Bertoua which recorded the worst performance in the history of the elite championship, is lording it over all with nine points closely followed by Panthere and Achille of Yaounde with eight points each. The clubs below the red line include Noblesse, Infinitif and AS Kadey.
In zone three comprising As Matelots, As Cetef, Njalla Quan QSA, Douala AC, PWD Bamenda, Victoria United, Yong sports Academy and Kumba Lakers, AS Matelots is calling the shots with 12 points, followed by A S Cetef and Njalla Quan academy with 10 points each. Surprisingly, Victoria United which missed qualification for the interpool competition by a hair's breadth, Yong Sports which was deemed the favourite in pool A in the last interpool competition and Kumba Lakers are in the danger zone.
It is worthy to note that the first team of each zone automatically qualifies for the MTN Elite one championship as the interpool competition which used to serve as entrance examination into division one, has been scraped. The measure falls within reforms initiated by the Cameroon football federation on the recommendation of the world football governing body, FIFA, in order to render Cameroonian football more competitive and attractive.
