Zimbabwe: Appeal for Help

6 March 2008

Harare — A Harare family is appealing for assistance from well-wishers to raise $6,3 billion to enable their one-year-old child to undergo a club foot operation.

In an interview yesterday, Mr Sailus Mangezi said his daughter Pauline was born with a club foot that causes her difficulty in walking. Their efforts to have her operated on at Parirenyatwa Hospital last year were unsuccessful because doctors were not available. "When we saw her condition worsening we visited an orthopeadic surgeon who informed us that $6,3 billion was required for the operation," said Mr Mangezi.

Mr Mangezi is a caretaker in Eastlea and cannot afford to raise the amount. Those who wish to help can deposit their money into Mr Mangezi's Zimbank account number 4157 473827 100.
