Governor Fai Yengo led officials to take stock of the damage done to Douala during the four-day strike.
The governor of the Littoral Province, Fai Yengo Francis and his close collaborators on Tuesday, 04th March went round the town accessing the destruction caused to some enterprises and the town as a whole. During the trip, the Governor consoled and comforted the victims.
The first stop over was at the Société Industrielle pour la Diffusion des Equipment, SIDEM. The Lebanese, who heads the Group Fadoul, explained to the governor how much they had lost. Furthermore he explained how the company was attacked by rampaging youths. Thereafter, Governor Fai and his entourage went round the premises to have a close view of destruction.
Next door to SIDEM was the Ellery Automobile whose building was completely gutted by flames. The company deals in vehicles. About 37 brand new Toyota vehicles were destroyed. It was a sad scene and a huge loss to the company.

He visited all the fuel stations which were completely or partially destroyed. He also visited the Belavie complex in Ndokoti, a centre which hosts about four different kinds of businesses.
The governor visited the Douala V council and Divisional office which was burnt down. The Taxation department No 13, as well as, the Police station in Mbambanda which were completely burnt down. The roads the residents had longed for were damaged as the striking youths burnt tires on different spots. Fai Yengo made his last stop over was at the Laquintinie hospital where the Director of the hospital, Dr Geremi Sollé briefed him on the patients, who were under treatment, especially the victims of the strikes. He said there were some who have to be operated upon.
Speaking to the press at the end of the tour the governor said his message is an appeal that all residents should work toward peace and that such acts should not be repeated. He said the acts were carried out by the youths who probably did not understand what they were supposed to do.
