Kampala — THE Lord's Resistance Army has been accused of killing a Congolese prince, heir to the throne of the Gbadi kingdom in the northwestern DR Congo.

According to the UN Radio Okapi based in Bunia DR Congo, Mr Ete, who was killed by the LRA on River Duru, was the heir to the throne of the Groupement Gbadi.

The radio reported on March that Mr Ete's genitals was cut off his eyes were gouged out.

It was also reported on the radio that the LRA tortured Mr Ete's two friends, Kpiaku and Nzila but let them go.

This is the first high level killing near the LRA base which is east of Suke since they entered the DRC, the radio report said.

The killing has enraged civil society organisations in Dungu. They called on DR Congo forces to deploy in the area.

Dungu, where the UN keeping mission Monuc had bases is where most of the defecting Ugandan rebels are located.

The UPDF confirmed the killing which they squarely blamed on LRA rebels in the area.

"We have received information that the LRA killed a Congolese official by amputating him and cutting off his private parts," Major Paddy Ankunda said.
