The Mfoundi CPDM Section yesterday in Yaounde organized a huge rally in support of President Paul Biya.
Thousands of militants and supporters of the ruling Cameroon People's Democratic Movement in Mfoundi Division and beyond turned out at the esplanade of the Yaounde City Council yesterday March 6 to participate in a solidarity rally in support of party chairman and Head of State, President Paul Biya. This followed a nationwide violent protests last week called by road transporters against fuel hikes.
Although organized by the CPDM section of Mfoundi, it was the Secretary General of the Central Committee, Réne Sadi himself who presided at the rally which took a national character with representatives from other provinces of the Republic in active attendance. Prime Minister Chief Ephraim Inoni and several members of government attended the four-hour rally which was addressed by many party officials.
Addressing the rally, the Secretary General, Réne Sadi recalled the sad events which rocked the country for four days causing the loss of human lives and property in many towns threatening social peace and stability. Mr Sadi regretted that a few individuals manipulated the youths and caused them to die for nothing. He said such individuals were out to serve their selfish interests through the use of violence, destruction and intimidation. The Secretary General said the militants have to congratulate the Head of State for h is determination to defend the institutions of the State. He said the events proved that President Paul Biya is the man who is up to the task and deserves the support of everybody. He urged militants to remain vigilant against intoxication, manipulation and vandalism.
Mr Rene Sadi said the party must find solutions to daily problems especially rising prices of basic commodities, corruption, unemployment and fraud. He made allusion to the current debate about the revision of the constitution and called on all party militants to support the proposal observing that it is the way to stability, peace and progress.
"We have come here to say those who want to destabilize our country will not succeed", he declared. He said the CPDM is a party of dialogue and tolerance which wins the people's hearts through persuasion, not force.
The militants and supporters of the CPDM in the Centre Province also read out, at the rally, what they called "The Yaounde Declaration" in which they recalled the sad events that recently affected some parts of the country characterized by acts of vandalism, destruction and looting of private and public property occasioning the loss of human lives.
The declaration traces the steps taken by President Paul Biya since coming to power in 1982 to promote and consolidate democracy and progress in Cameroon. The militants pledge their support to President Biya for the modification of the 1996 constitution in the interest of the Cameroonian people. They also support action to improve the purchasing power and living conditions of Cameroonians by fighting against poverty in all its forms.

Finally, they expressed their firm determination to support the Head of State to put a stop to any attempt to create disorder and destabilisation which will endanger peace and security.
Mr journalist Nkemgu !!With due respect to your profession and your role as a media man please, stop meddling yourself in political affairs. You aren't the only english media man in Cameroon tribune please. It's not bad anyway to report and inform the nation on issues at stake but from my point of view you ar siding with the government. You are not giving accurate reports of what is really transpiring in so far as CPDM meetings and government action against the so called "petits sorciers" are concerned.
Why didn't you report on the declarations of minister Fouda who said... [Read Full Text]
Thanks for the advice to this journalist.I read the Yaounde declaration with amazement, horror and a sense of sadness all thrown into one.For a group of people to affix their signatures on an article like that, beats me.In an era where political scapegoating, witch hunting, revenge and blame take a front seat after sour regime changes,I can only hope that these individuals have not signed, sealed and delivered their fate to any political avenger in the future. Not only that, it seems as though it is a subliminal message to Cameroonians in general and those that are non-Yaounde in particular. But then, they probably know something that... last week seemed to have been a full demonstration of a nation against Biya, am sure you know that. If so large a number of youths are 'delinquent' as put by the so called father of the nation, then that is an indication of failure of his policies. I put the blame on his table.
If he truly is there to defend the constitution, then why turn around and want to manipulate the very document?
You the journalist amplifying the Biya´s regime;a time will come when everybody would be held for his or her acts
There is no problem. But to you Mr NKEMGU OR WHAT YOU CALL YOURSELF.Just keep on amplifying the regime of Biya......
