Eritrea: Gash-Setit Hotel in Barentu Rebuilt

7 March 2008

Barentu — The Gash-Setit Hotel in Barentu that was destroyed by the invading troops of the TPLF regime during the border conflict has now been rebuilt at a cost of 3 million Nakfa and has begun to provide services.

The owner of the hotel, Mr. Habteselasie Keleta, noted during the inauguration ceremony that the TPLF regime only managed to destroy the hotel but not the steadfastness and dedication of the Eritrean people.

Also speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the Administrator of the Gash-Barka region, Mr. Kahsai Gebrehiwet, stressed that the reconstruction of the hotel attests to the steadfastness of the Eritrean people and added that the TPLF regime's resort to destructive acts is a vivid demonstration of its wicked intentions.

He further indicated that the now rebuilt hotel, through the dedicated endeavors of the owner, would play a significant role in the nation-building process. Noting that the Gash-Barka region is attracting domestic tourists, Mr. Kahsai called on investors and businessmen to avail themselves of the existing opportunities.

The enterprise presently bearing the name "Tinsae Gash-Setit Hotel" is equipped with 20 bedrooms, a restaurant, an assembly hall and other facilities.
