The Southwest Divisional Delegation of Commerce, Tuesday, March 3, confiscated 407 bags of cement in Molyko, Buea.

The Price Control Committee led by Emmanuel Tchuakio (Divisional Delegate) seized the cement from Labata Enterprise, which was being sold at FCFA 6000 and auctioned it at FCFA 4900, a bag on the spot.

The price control team was set up in December 2007, to stabilise the prices of essential commodities and ensure that they are sold at official prices. The shop owner, Jean Lapa, told The Post that the Price Control Committee imposed on him those to whom he was to sell his cement.

He said Government officials are comedians, claiming that he bought his cement from CEMENCAM at FCFA 5500 plus transport. Meantime, Fako Divisional Delegate of Commerce, Emmanuel Tchuakio, called on citizens to respect the official prices of basic commodities.

Although local inhabitants expressed happiness at the Delegate's action, they prayed that the prices of other basic commodities such as sugar, flour, rice, soap, oil etc also be controlled.
