A major Italian leasing bank, "Banca Agrileasing" has opened a branch in Tunis. The office was inaugurated on Thursday by Governor of the Central Bank of Tunisia, Mr Taoufik Baccar and Italy 's Ambassador in Tunis , Mr Antonio D'Andria.

"Agrileasing" which is a division of Italy 's "Cooperative Credit" aims at identifying the best means to boost the role of Italian small and medium-sized enterprises.

During a press conference held in Tunis , Mrs. Mariella Liverani, the director of the Tunisia office "Agrileasing" said the opening of this office is a first step on the road to a larger presence of the Italian "Cooperative Credit " in the Mediterranean . "Tunisia is close to Italy geographically and culturally and plays the role of a natural hub allowing Italy to conquer North African markets such Libya, Algeria as well as Egypt", she added.

On his part, Mr. Bacccar said that new branch will give a new boost to Tunisian-Italian co-operation relations.

With the setting up of "Banca Agrileasing" in Tunisia , the Tunisian banking landscape has been enriched by a tenth foreign bank office. It is the fourth Italian banking representation in Tunisia .
