Bundung — The Gambia Government will today Monday, 10th March (Common Wealth Day) harass those believe to be foreigners in The Gambia. The Gambia Immigration was over the past month training to be able to harass as in the past, people purportedly believe to be without their Alien Card or their Residential or Work permit, the third month of the year. Many people were disgraced in the past and the money collected from the foreigners stolen by only one man who made his way out of the country then.
Many Common Wealth citizens would be wondering today, when their doors would be knocked and dragged to the police stations, until they produce their alien tax. Those also belonging to the ECOWAS, would be in trouble as the integration suggested and implemented by ECOWAS member states does not hold water. In the past the so called foreigners have been molested, beaten and bruised by those who are to protect even the foreigners.
The Immigration boys who go in search of the foreigners forced the aliens to pay some money to be able to get something to lift their living standards. They often take the uneducated Guineas from Conakry to corners to pay some money to them. Others who suffer again are Nigerians, who may refuse bail and are dumped into the cell and for those who can bribe are left to go free but are caught again and again and the payment continues. Those who have rushed to pay were told to hold on, that means they would be caught and money taken from them before they get their papers.
According to an anonymous policeman, their police station would be filled with foreigners, more than the cars that were apprehended recently for lack of meeting the requirements. But would they have place for the people to stay for a few days and to even feed them? The same police man said the government should be careful or else we shall hear again that someone has ran away with a lot of money from the Immigration or so.
The young immigration boys and girls are to be checked too for their involvement with aliens because they are sometimes unprofessional and the love of money drives them mad all the time.
