The Management of Firestone Liberia has begun the construction of a new school building in Division 12 as part of efforts by the company's educational authorities to accommodate the growing population of school-going age children in that part of the concession area.
Speaking during a joint assessment visit to the construction site on Monday, March 3, 2008, the Construction Manager of Firestone Liberia, Mr. Ligori Sekajipo said the new building when completed, will contain eight classrooms and a teacher's lounge.
Mr. Sekajipo also revealed that plans are underway for the construction of housing units for teachers who are expected to take up assignment in the area.
According to the Firestone Liberia Construction Manager, the campus of the Division 12 School will be ready for occupancy by the next academic term adding: "Our team mates are working tirelessly to make sure that they complete on time."
The Superintendent of the Firestone School System, Mrs. Dwede D. Hoto, who was also part of the assessment team, expressed delight that Firestone Liberia continues to invest immensely in the future prosperity of the young people of Liberia, especially those of Margibi County. "I am highly gratified that our children continue to have access to modern educational facilities free of charge, something that will make them productive citizens in the future." The seasoned female Liberian educator averred.
She thanked the Management of Firestone Liberia for the interest it has taken in the educational advancement of the children of its dedicated employees by making sure that the kids attend and remain in school at all times for a better tomorrow.
Mrs. Hoto expressed the hope that employees and their children will make maximum use of these educational opportunities being put at their disposal through the efforts of Management by parents ensuring that the children are always in school.
For his part, the Public Affairs Manager of Firestone Liberia, Mr. G. Rufus Karmorh, who accompanied the team, extolled Management under the leadership of Mr. Charles E. Stuart, President and Managing Director of Firestone Liberia, for its continuous commitment towards the educational needs of the young people of Liberia.
Mr. Karmorh used the occasion to call on the children of Firestone employees to utilize the opportunities that they now have so that they can become serviceable to society in the future.
"Prepare yourselves today and be useful tomorrow." The Public Affairs boss added. Firestone owns and operates its own school system of 23 schools with more than 15,000(fifteen thousand) students enrolled; all of them children of employees who attend at no cost.
