A steward of the ruling Unity party Senator John Ballout of Maryland County has revealed that partisans of the party were undergoing hardship due to the lack of jobs.

He told reporters that partisans who stood in the sun and rain to cast their votes to ensure that the Unity Party becomes victorious in the 2005 general and presidential elections have been neglected by the party.

Senator Ballout said he was disappointed over the failure of the party to provide jobs for its partisans.

The Maryland County Senator made the assertion when he spoke to reporters at the Capitol in Monrovia.

He said as a result of the party's failure to seek the welfare of its members, they were been mocked by the opposition.

"The aim of joining an association or any political party is to reap the benefit at the end of the day and not to suffer for others who did not contribute anything towards the success to enjoy it," he noted in an angry mood.

He pointed out that his view represents 95% of the partisans in the country.

Ballout urged officials of the party to provide jobs for its partisans so that they would feel a sense of belonging.

"Our partisans are really suffering; it is now time that we give them jobs so that they would be able to support their families. If we don't put our feet on the ground to ensure that our people get job, the party stands to lose the next election," the Maryland County Senator warned.

The Maryland Lawmaker made it clear that his advocacy should not be seen as wanting to deny opposition jobs in government, but pointed out that people who worked for the party to make what it is today should be given first preference.

He said he was not against bringing qualified Liberians on board to work in the ruling Unity Party led government, but it should not be done to the detriment of the partisans.

Meanwhile, Senator Ballout is calling on the party to reopen its local offices that were shut down by landlords.
