Vice President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday pledged Nigeria's commitment to the cordial relations between Nigeria and the Democratic Republic of Sao Tome and Principe.

The Vice President, who received a delegation from the country led by its Prime Minister, Patrice Trovoda, said Nigeria remained committed to the Joint Development Zone (JDZ) established by the two countries.

Jonathan assured the delegation of Nigeria's readiness to support the country in diplomatic relations between both countries."I can assure you that both countries will always work together in a mutually-beneficial way as good brothers,"Jonathan said.

Earlier in his remarks, Trovoda said his country had always regarded Nigeria as a caring big brother.

The prime minister applauded the initiative of the JDZ as a partnership that would benefit both countries.

According to him, there are hopes that commercial quantities of oil will bediscovered in the zone in the near future.
