Lobatse — The new Good Hope Senior Secondary School opened doors to its first student intake this week.
The first three days had been reserved for the induction of the 1 070 students.
The school head, Mr Edwin Keatimilwe, said students should expect intensive teaching when classes commence to compensate for the lost time.
He said students would close for only one week each in the first and second terms to compensate for lost time.
The over P330 million school opened its doors three weeks late due to construction which is still ongoing in some sections of the school. Classes commenced without even a telephone at the school.
On teething problems experienced, Mr Keatimilwe said the shortage of water at the school is mitigated by bowsing.
The shortage would be solved by the connection of a water pipeline from Lobatse to the school.
The senior secondary school, which is one of the biggest in the country, took a year to complete.
It has 10 blocks of hostels, a multi purpose hall, six blocks of toilets, sports facilities and a dining hall. BOPA
