Ethiopia: NGO Secures Sponsorship for 455 Aids Orphans

The United for Change Integrated Training and Development Organization (UCIDO) a humanitarian organization operating under the motto: Ethiopians for Ethiopians on Saturday arranged sponsor families for 455 orphaned children caused by HIV/AIDS.
Speaking at an event organized to handover the children to their families who will take charge of them, Sister Genet Tadesse, UCIDO director said since HIV/AIDS has so far killed more than 20 million people which is much more than the number of deaths the great wars have claimed.
The children will not however depart from home to live with their sponsor families-they will be supported while they are at home.
Approximately 5 million children have lost their parents for HIV/AIDS and related problems in Ethiopia.
More than 898,350 children have become AIDS orphans in Ethiopia caused.
UCIDO secures sponsorship to curb the problem of orphan children in Ethiopia through. 50 mother ambassadors selected from the 10 sub-cities, who become active members in advocating for orphan problems.
The mother ambassadors work as positive change agents to create carrying environment to orphans in communities.
The organizations also use different techniques such as conducting trainings and organizing awareness creating programs through various means including conferences that are organized at churches, all aimed at convincing potential families for the orphans, or solicit fund for them.
Currently 8 thousand people died each day and 14 thousand infected in the world.
"Strong support is required for the success of our mission," said Sister Genet.
UCIDO organized the program in collaboration with Pathfinder at meeting center.
Ambassadorship titles were issued to the women who are engaged in theprotection of children's and womens' rights.
UCIDO is an indigenous, non-governmental, non-profit, humanitarian organization established in 2006 by Ethiopian volunteers who were concerned about the devastating economic and social situation of the people of Ethiopia, particularly orphans caused by HIV/AIDS.

According the Ministry of health, 978, 000 people likw with the ilness in Ethiopia with 2.1% prevalency rate.
