Gambia: College Lecturers Defeat Students

Gambia College Student Union executive members were handed a humiliating 3-1 defeat by a surprise highly superior lecturers last Friday.

The Lecturers defied all odds by putting three goals past the student's goal before the much younger students managed a consolation with the last kick of the ball. Sadibou Badjie ensured the Lecturers supremacy with their first goal in the 10th minute of the game.

When the Lecturers showed up for the match at the Brikama campus playing ground they were greeted with laughter by the student spectators. But this was soon put to rest when the lecturers took the lead only ten minutes into the game. The students were completely outplayed their young opponents.

And in the second half the students replaced most of the starting lineup but were frustrated further with two more goals from Buba Sonko and Ismaila Badjie in the 56th and 62nd minute. The student consolation goal was scored by Samuel Mendy.

Sulayman Cole senior Physical Education lecturer mocked the boys' level of performance saying: "This people are young but [with] old limbs" adding "in the old days, college used to be place for discovering [sporting] talents".
