Mogomotsi Moloi

Mochudi Centre Chiefs' on-form international striker Jerome 'JJ' Ramatlhakana says that he is not eyeing any individual honour and his main interest is to help his team to win their first Premier League title.

The 22-year-old marksman from Malolwane who plays for both national Under-23 and Zebras is currently leading the scoring charts with 13 goals and many believe that he will definitely bag the golden boot award this season.

The forceful striker has been instrumental in his team's success so far. He is banging in goals week in and out. His form has attracted a number of South African clubs who are reportedly interested in his services.

The 'Big Animal' is challenged in the race for top goal scorer by Notwane midfielder Keoagetse Radipotsane, Derrick Badibanga (Boteti Young Fighters), Tiroyamodimo 'TRX' Mohambi of Extension Gunners, who have scored 10 goals each. Gaborone United's (GU) Kenny Ledikwe and Terence Mandaza of TASC have nine goals each.

Yesterday, a modest Ramatlhakwana told Mmegi Sport about his prospects of winning the golden boot award. He said his ambition is to win the league with Magosi and any other award will be a bonus to him.

"I am currently not eyeing any individual award but concentrating on helping my club to win the league," said the young striker. He added that most players at Magosi have never tasted Premier League victory and it would be great for them to triumph.

Last Friday night, he scored the two goals that saw Chiefs beat GU 2-1 at the National Stadium. The goals helped Magosi to widen the gap at the summit of the log to 51 points from 21 matches. With second-placed Uniao Flamingo Santos losing steam, the title race is becoming a no-contest. Ramatlhakwana is excited about his team's overall performance. He has vowed to work extra hard to win the title.

He does not seem fazed by the prospects of moving to South Africa where he recently attended trials with SuperSport United. Some media reports say that Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs are interested in him.

"I am interested in playing outside Botswana but I cannot say anything about my discussions with South African teams," Ramatlhakwana said. He expressed happiness about the support he gets from his teammates at Centre Chiefs. He said everybody in the Chiefs' camp is motivated and determined for success this season.

Last season's golden boot winner, Pontsho Moloi of Chiefs' has been instrumental in Ramatlhakwana's success.

Moloi has scored six times this season. Only time will tell if the on-form Ramatlhakwana maintains his killer instincts and becomes the top goal scorer this season.
