12 March 2008

opinion

Golij — About 400 IDP families in the Tsorona sub-zone, who were displaced for 10 years following the TPLF regime's war of aggression, have now voluntarily moved to the Golij sub-zone in order to engage in agricultural activities.

The IDP families used to live in the villages of Onashehak, Korobro, Adi-Kutin and Mai-Wuray. The move is in line with their initiative to become self-supporting through engaging in agricultural activities. Reports indicated that the Ashlelet administrative area in the Golij sub-zone is endowed with extensive and fertile farmlands and that the Government has and still is preparing the necessary social services to the IDPs, such as potable water supply, health and education.

Moreover, the Government has transported their belongings and the residents of the town of Tessenei accorded them warm welcome. Likewise, members of the Defense Force prepared makeshift dwelling facilities for them.
