Paucity of funds is limiting the National Biotechnology Development Agency (NABDA), from deploying technology in addressing needs in critical areas of the economy, the Director General; of the agency Prof. Bamidele Solomon has said.

The N5 billion annual grant approved for the agency since 2001 by former President Olusegun Obasanjo has not been fulfilled while budgetary allocation kept depreciating annually, he said.

He said last week while receiving the Minister of State for Science and Technology, Dr Alhassan Zaku who visited the agency that the technology if properly funded has the potentials of assisting the country meet its health, agriculture and medical needs.
