Luanda — The writer and director of the National Institute of Books and Discs (INALD), António Fonseca, on Wednesday here said that culture is a fundamental element of national sovereignty, which has to be preserved and respected by all Angolans.
The writer said so when delivering a lecture on the theme "More culture more Angola", which took place in Kilamba Cultural Centre, in Luanda.
On the occasion, António Fonseca called the attention of participants, especially the youth, on the need to develop cultural initiatives.
He explained that the various cultures can interact, but each can also retain its particularity.
He also explained that the country´s cultural policy foresees as one of the main principles the need to respect other cultures and treat all of them equally.
As regards what he called cultural nationality or "Angolannes", António Fonseca said it is all the elements that result from the country´s historical process, old and new, that give the sense of nation.
The debate, which is part of Kilamba´s project called "Isto é Angola" (This is Angola), aimed at contributing for a better knowledge of the country, in its various aspects.
