The President of the Democratic and People's Republic of Algeria, Abdelaziz Bouterflika Thursday sent a message to the Angolan Head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos, encouraging the latter to continue with reforms underway in the country, with view to re-launch its economy.

Chakib Khelil, Algerian minister of Energy and Mining, who arrived in the country this Thursday with the aim of attending the third meeting of the Bilateral Cooperation Joint Commission, was the bearer of the message.

According to the Algerian minister, considering the progresses that Angola has been registering in the oil sector, the country is expected to produce more so that the results can support other areas, such as of science, agriculture, training of staff, among others.

Chakib Khelil also referred about the "excellent political relations" existing between Angola and Algeria, which date back to the era of the liberation struggles to achieve national independence.

Angola and Algeria share relations in the fields of training of staff, electrical, hydrocarbon and mines sectors, and there is also cooperation between Sonangol and Sonnatrch, both State-run fuel societies linked to the oil fields and its by-products.
