Angola: Vietnamese Delegation Jets in

13 March 2008

Luanda — A delegation of Vietnam's Communist Party (PCV), led by the vice-president of the Foreign Affairs Commission of its Central Committee, Ta Minh Chau, arrived Thursday in Luanda for a few-day work visit to Angola.

ANGOP learnt, at Luanda's "4 de Fevereiro" International Airport, that the delegation has come to Angola to prepare a visit of PCV's first secretary, Nong Duc Manh, expected for early April.

After receiving welcome greetings from the Vietnamese ambassador to Angola, Nguyen Dinh, the visiting delegation will meet with various local entities, including some officials of the ruling MPLA party, with view to create conditions leading to the success of the mission.

Political relations between the two parties and countries backdates to November 1975, having been strengthened in 1985, when Vietnam sent physicians, teachers and experts for the sectors of agriculture and of finance, to help with the national reconstruction process.

At the moment, there are some 300 Vietnamese citizens in Angola, amongst physicians and teachers who are working in various provinces.
