Angola: First Biography of Amílcar Cabral Released Today

Luanda — The first biography of Amílcar Cabral, founder of the African Party for Independence of Guinea-Bissau and Cape Verde (PAIGC), is being released Saturday in Luanda.

Written by Angolan António Tomás, is being released four months after it was launched in Lisbon (Portugal) and two in Praia city, Cape Verde.

The book was launched in November last year in Portugal by Tinta-da-China editing house.

António Tomás, 34, is the author of the first biography of Amilcar Cabral, written in the framework of the "Criar a Lusofonia" programme of Portugal's National Institute of Culture.

According to the writer, the book took more than five years to be written and needed research in archives of Portugal, France, USA, Guinea Bissau and Cape Verde.

He also interviewed several companions and relatives of Amilcar Cabral.
