Lagos — THE wreckage of the missing Beechcraft 1900D plane owned by Wings Aviation was found yesterday at Nbagu village in Yala Local Government Area of Cross River State, according to the Minister of State for Air Transportation, Mr. Felix Hyatt.
The aircraft, a turboprop, with registration No: 5N JAH on a routine flight from Lagos to Obudu Cattle Ranch in Cross River lost contact with Port Harcourt Airport.
The aircraft, which departed Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos at 7.35 a.m. with three crew members was expected to arrive Bebi Airstrip at approximately 8.45 a.m.
On Saturday, the Managing Director of Wings Aviation, Captain Nogie Meggison, said four helicopters had been deployed to search for the aircraft.
The Federal Government had to seek the approval of the Camerounian authorities to enable search and rescue team searching for the missing Beechcraft 1900D.
16-seat aircraft, with three crew members on board, lost contact with the control tower last Saturday while on its way to Obudu, Cross River State, to pick up Governor Liyel Imoke.
Director-General of Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Dr. Harold Demuren, told Vanguard on phone yesterday that six helicopters had been deployed in search for the missing plane.
The crew members were named as Captain Augustine Egbedi (Pilot), Captain Tank (co-pilot), and Miss A. Fugbarata (crew member).
