Kenya: Kiai Touted for Top UN Job Despite Odds

Nairobi — After a bruising battle with the Government over human rights violations, which earned him threats, Mr Maina Kiai is now being fronted for a coveted UN post.

The local civil society is fronting the chairman of the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR) as a possible replacement to outgoing UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Ms Louise Arbour.
