Kazakhstan will soon open an embassy in Senegal as a result of an agreement concluded in this connection and signed by the foreign ministers of the two countries on the sidelines of the 11th session of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OCI) summit.

The agreement, signed on Thursday by Foreign Minister Cheikh Tidiane Gadio and his counterpart Marat Mukhambetkazievich Tazhin, comes after a visit to Kazakhstan by the executive director of the OIC National Agency (ANOCI), Abdoulaye Balde, in January.

Marat Tajine said he was pleased about this new diplomatic axis between Senegal and his country, while stressing the success of the organisation of the 11th OIC Summit ending in Dakar, Friday.

For his part, the Senegalese foreign minister lauded the opening-up of Kazakhstan to Senegal and Africa. According to him, this agreement is part of notable symbols of the Dakar summit.

Kazakhstan wished to establish and develop diplomatic relations with Senegal, one of the few African countries, which have sent a delegation to Astana, capital of this wide north Asian country, which became independent in 1991.
