Nigeria: FG Will Prosecute Anti-Graft War, Says Obanikoro

Lagos — Ambassadorial nominee, Senator Musiliu Obani-koro has said President Umaru Yar'Adua's administration will not relax its fight on Corruption, describing it as a "monster".

Obanikoro said this at an interactive session with members of the Nigerian community on Thursday night at the Nigerian Consulate in Johannesburg.

"We are not going to relax our fight on corruption. It is a monster that has set us as a nation backward, we must fight it together to bring a new lease of life into the system" he said.

He said president Yar'Adua would ensure that the progress of Nigeria would be brought to fore because the president has a contract with the people to improve the living standard of all citizens.

Obanikoro said "this administration will improve on those areas Nigerians believe the immediate past administration did not perform well enough and will take us to the next level ."

He commended the out-going Nigerian Consulate General (CG) in Johannes-burg, Mr. Sani Mohammed for his handling of the consulate affairs especially his determination to unite the diverse Nigerian ethic organisations.

"Our diversity should bring about strength and not weakness," he said noting that "Nigerian union now provides you as Nigerians living in South Africa the opportunity to test their leadership qualities.
