Massawa — The Northern Red Sea Regional Assembly held its 8th regular meeting from March 11 to 12 in the port city of Massawa.
In the meeting in which branch heads of ministries, PFDJ and national association heads took part, the Chairman of the Assembly, Mr. Ibrahim Ali Sheik, noted that enhancing social services, promoting the development of infrastructure, stepping up endeavors to achieve food security, and above all safeguarding the nation's sovereignty would be given priority in this year's action program. To this end, he called on the inhabitants of the region to exert increased efforts.
Following reports presented by the regional administration and committees of social service, economic development, culture and tradition, among others, the participants of the meeting conducted deliberations on these reports. Moreover, they adopted a number of resolutions and recommendations, including the need to reinforce endeavors to boost agricultural output, expand health and educational services and the like.
Speaking on the occasion, the Administrator of the region, Mr. Osman Mohammed Omar, lauded the development activities being carried out in the region and called on Assembly members to work hand-in-hand with the public in backing up the on-going national development drive.
