Gombe — Five contractors are in the hunt to seal a deal with the Gombe State Government for the reconstruction of the proposed 15,000 capacity Pantami Stadium in the state capital.
THISDAYSports learnt that officials of Rishton Nigeria Ltd, Ever Style Technoexporstory ES and TES Consortium Nig Ltd, CGC Nig Ltd, Tongley Nig Ltd and Benton Bau Nig Ltd, who were at the office of Alhaji Ahmed Yayari, the state Commissioner of Sports to submit their proposal for the project commended the process adopted
Documents submitted by the bidding firms were immediately handed over to the State Ministry of Sports for examination cum recommendation and furtherance to the Due Process team for cross examination and consideration.
Haruna Zakari, Secretary of the Ministerial Technical Committee, who doubles as a member of the Ministerial Due Process Team, affirmed that the Technical Team would sit today even as he guaranteed that all paper work regarding the project would be rounded-up by the end of the month.
Sporting facilities at the stadium include a standard sized football pitch with a synthetic athletics track amongst other things.
He assured people of the state, particularly sports lovers that both stadiums would wear a new and state of the art look before the end of Governor Danjuma Goje's administration.
The sports commissioner added that the plan was in line with the administration's determination to improve sports and sports facilities in the state so that Gombe could compare and compete favourably with other states of the federation in terms of performance and facilities.
