The scathing attacks on the National Chairman of the Social Democratic Front, SDF, by the Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralisation, Marafa Hamidou Yaya, accusing Fru Ndi of masterminding strike violence has provoked the politician into convening a "crucial" National Executive Committee, NEC, meeting on Saturday, March 15, in Ntarinkon, Bamenda.

Speaking to The Post by phone, Fru Ndi said he blames Biya for appointing election riggers like Marafa and an ex-convict from New Bell Prison as Ministers. "What else do you expect from such fellows who tell lies in broad daylight without blinking? I am not going to take this matter lying low after NEC meets.

Thereafter, if it is possible, we might hold a press conference right in Yaounde to expose the lies of this regime on the party and my person." Asked what he was going to do about Biya's claim, he replied: "I will not take this lying low; why don't you wait and see what I will do? Just wait and see".

On Marafa's declaration that he (Fru Ndi) was spotted with a hardened criminal from New Bell prison in his car, Fru Ndi said, it sounds so silly for a Minister of Marafa's standing to make such claims. He warned that such reckless declarations should be condemned, because, as he put it, Biya and his cohorts are at the end of the road and confused.

The SDF Chair reiterated that he condemned the violence and looting and that he was in support of a peaceful strike by those who feel cheated. "Instead of President Paul Biya and his Cabinet Ministers taking their responsibilities and seeking for a solution to the current crisis, they see only Fru Ndi."

He said the training of SDF youths on leadership skills in Bamenda and the NEC meeting in Douala as well as the press conference that ensued had nothing in common with the strike action by transporters.
