One of the novelties of the second edition of the Yaoundé Female Race, COFEY, billed for April 13, is the participation of women of the CEMAC region.
Answering questions from the press recently, the President of the organising committee, Louisette Thobi, disclosed that besides the participation of the women, a seminar for female journalists would feature on the sidelines.
The matron of the 2008 edition of the race, Maryse Ewandje-Epee, a TV and radio journalist with Radio Monte Carlos and Canal Plus in France would be the guest speaker. Another innovation for this year is that women would have the opportunity of testing their sugar level for diabetes.
The race that would bring together over 3000 women is divided into three categories - youth, professional and veteran - and divided in eight sub groups. Unlike last year when the race was limited to women from Yaoundé, women would be coming from Limbe, Kribi, Ebolowa Bafia, Ombesa, Mfou and Ndikinimiki.
The prizes would remain the same as last year - For the youth is FCFA 1, 6 million, the professional category, FCFA 2,850,000 and FCFA 1,200,000 for the veterans. In the professional category, the first to the fifth position would have FCFA 750, 650, 500,000, 350,000, 200,000 and 100,000 respectively.
