Keetmanshoop — POLICE at Keetmanshoop are hunting for a man who allegedly raped two girls after he threatened to harm them with a piece of wire and a belt.

The girls, aged 10 and 11, were raped on their way to school in the veld between Keetmanshoop's Kroenlein and Tseiblaagte residential areas at around 07h30 on Thursday, Nampol's Inspector Sylvia Ruhl confirmed to The Namibian.

One of the rape victims' father said the older girl was raped first while the younger girl was watching helplessly, too scared to run away because the man had threatened to harm her.

He added that the girls had tried to escape from the man, but he chased after them and caught them.

According to the father, the suspect is known to one of the rape victims.
