Monrovia — Over 300 members of the youth wing of the ruling Unity Party Monday stormed the headquarters of the party Monday to demand the resignation of the National Chairman, Dr. Charles Clarke.
Speaking to reporters at the party headquarters on Broad Street, District #3 Coordinator, Zenatana Sumbo alleged that Dr. Clarke and other executives of the party have neglected them.
"Many of us are qualified to work, but they don't care about welfare," Sumbo added.
He said as long as Dr. Clarke remains chairman, they would continue their peaceful demonstration to demand his resignation.
The Montserrado County District #3 Youth Coordinator further alleged that several communications have been written to Dr. Clarke informing him about their plight, but to no avail.
He said their protest action was intended to draw the attention of President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf for her timely redress.
The aggrieved youths promised to prevent any one from transacting business with Dr. Clarke in the name of the party.
Also speaking, Montserrado County Youth Coordinator for Electoral District #10, Amos B. Tweh alleged that Dr. Clarke have failed to open party branches in the counties.
"As we speak, nearly all of our party's local branches have closed due to the lack of funds.
When Dr. Clarke office was contacted for comment, an employee only identified as Ma Dee, said Dr. Clarke was out of the office.
