Tanzania: National Rugby Team in Action Against Kenya On Friday

Twigas, the national rugby team, are expected to take on Kenya's Kisumu Cheetahs in the Bamburi Super Series match set for Friday at the Arusha Friedkin Recreational Centre.

An official of the Tanzania Rugby Union (TRU), Lynn Taylor, said this is Twigas' second match in the series. They lost to visiting Nairobi Lions in their first match a fortnight ago.

Bully off time is set at 4:30 p.m. and the TRU official appealed to fans to turn up in large numbers and cheer the home side.

"We call upon spectators to show up at the venue and cheer the home side", said Taylor. She said the aim of Tanzania's participation in the championship was to popularise rugby in the country.

PrecisionAir and Tanzania Breweries Limited are backing the Tanzania team in the championship.

Taylor said the team has been training hard with a view to overcoming the defeat inflicted on them during the championship's opener.

Twigas are under the tutelage of former TRU president Tinus Aucamp who powered the team to a historical Confederation of African Rugby Castle Cup in 2006.
