What appears to be serious confusion among the partisans of the ruling Unity Party (UP) over the removal of the party's Chairman, Dr. Charles Clarke, continues to deepen with a farfetched solution.
Some partisans have alleged that Chairman Clarke is very weak to the extent that he lacks interest in his partisans by not using his influence to secure jobs for them.
Some of the partisans told The INQUIRER that they have suffered enough to make sure that the Unity Party makes headway in its agenda but that they have not achieved anything from it.
The UP headquarters was indeed a topsy-turvy scene yesterday afternoon when several aggrieved youths took control of things in anticipation of the Vice Standard bearer of the party, Dr. Joseph Boikai to address them in a bid to find a way out in resolving the stand off between them and Dr. Clarke.
Our reporter who visited the headquarters of the party observed youths of the party in separate groups discussing the way and manner things are falling apart in the party.
One of the youths, Zinnatana Pewu Sumo who is said to be the Chairman of District No. 3 Youth Wing on 3rd Street, Sinkor received a tumultuous welcome upon his arrival at the compound under security protection provided by youths. He marched straight to the podium to give an important announcement.
At that juncture Chairman, Sumo took complete control of affairs in the presence of the embattled Chairman, Dr. Clarke and some top unity party members awaiting Vice president Dr. Joseph Boika to break the ice.
Some of the top-notch UP partisans included Mr. Cleamensue Urey, Mr. James Davies, Mr. Dodo Kromah, and Honorable Gloria Scott among others.
The Youth wing Chairman, upon arrival at the platform immediately announced to the youths that in the absence of the Vice Standard Bearer of the party, Dr. Boikai there will be no meeting.
His pronouncement was highly accepted by the youths who responded at the top of their voices in solidarity, a situation which caused Dr. Clarke to leave the compound.
Frantic efforts made by an array of Journalists to obtain a word or two from him proved futile.
Some UP staunch members also declined to make statements on the issue except Honorable Buffer Chambers of Maryland County who in a chat with the aggrieved youths called for dialogue as a way out.
The UP lawmaker further stated that every where in the world these incidents occur but, noted that at the end solutions are arrived at.
Meanwhile, reliable information gathered at the party headquarters indicate that the youths are annoyed with the Vice Standard bearer, Dr. Joseph Boikai for allegedly employing six members of the opposition Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) in his official office as Vice President of Liberia.
Some of the partisans further stated that other opposition members from the CDC have also been appointed in some high offices thereby leaving them in the cold, something which they said they strongly oppose.
Because of this the UP youths said they are blaming the embattled Chairman, Dr. Clarke for his inability to handle the party Chairmanship.
However, efforts to resolve the matter late yesterday through the intervention of the Vice Standard Bearer, Dr. Joseph N. Boikai was ongoing up to press time.
