The University of Botswana has announced the promotion of two Botswana citizen members of the academic staff to professorial ranks, one becoming full professor.
They are Professor Musa Dube who becomes full professor of theology and religious studies and Dr Akintayo Adedoyin who rises to the level of associate professor of physics. Professor Dube, who is the first woman professor in humanities, joined the University of Botswana in 1998 as a staff development fellow.
She was promoted from Senior Lecturer to Associate Professor in 2003. Her research interests are New Testament, gender and HIV studies. Professor Dube holds a doctoral degree in New Testament studies. In 2007, she won UB's gender policy and programme committee (GPPC) research awards on the outstanding international and national research on gender studies. Professor Adedoyin joined the University of Botswana as a lecturer in 1992. His fields of research are tropical tropospheric dynamics, climatology and solar radiation.
He is a holder of a degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Physics specialising in meteorology. He represents UB on the national climate change committee.
